Bases Full of Cubs

Finally! After two straight loses to Milwaukee to start the season, our beloved Cubbies avoided a sweep and finally beat the Brew Crew 6 - 3 this afternoon in The Friendly Confines. They played much better than their miserable outing yesterday (when they looked like my 5 year old nephew's soccer team), and DLee, DeRosa, and De Fuku are early bright spots. Aramis went deep today and the entire team, except Pie of course, showed more patience at the plate. Soriano finally got an RBI blooper after going 0 for 11 to start the season, Dempster looked good in the rotation, and Wood threw lights out at 96 to get his first save as The Closer. Hopefully this will be the turning point from a very mediocre Spring Training. They've struggled playing small ball and executing the fundamentals, so today was a definite improvement. They were aggressive running the bases, but still left 9 runners standed. Oh well, the white flag is flying tonight and we've got the first one under our belt on our way to a World Championship. Oh yea, it's gonna happen!
